How Flightcast Delivers Ads (Timing and Pacing)

How Flightcast Delivers Ads and Keeps Campaigns on Pace

1. Create campaigns with or without a target 0:00

  • In Flightcast, ad delivery starts with campaigns.
  • Each campaign can be set up in one of two ways:
  • With a target (for example, 30,000 impressions by June 30)
  • Without a target
  • The target is what tells Flightcast how much delivery to aim for over time.

2. Use pacing to determine how many impressions to deliver each day 0:09

  • For campaigns with a target, Flightcast tries to deliver just enough impressions each day to stay on pace.
  • Example:
  • If a campaign is halfway through its time window, it should be about 50% delivered.
  • Flightcast continuously checks pacing so campaigns stay aligned with their goals.

3. Prioritize campaigns that are behind pace 0:28

  • Flightcast always tries to help behind campaigns catch up.
  • Campaigns that are farther behind get priority over campaigns that are closer to pace.
  • In the example shown:
  • Some campaigns are slightly ahead
  • One is 11% behind
  • One is 24% behind
  • One is 36% behind
  • If Flightcast must choose one ad to serve, it will pick the most behind campaign first.

4. Serve ads in order of urgency until pacing improves 0:46

  • When multiple campaigns are competing for delivery, Flightcast serves the one that is most behind.
  • After that campaign catches up, Flightcast moves to the next most behind campaign.
  • This keeps delivery balanced across all active campaigns over time.

5. Understand that short campaigns are harder to deliver 1:11

  • Campaigns with short time windows are harder to pace because there is less time to accumulate impressions.
  • Longer campaigns, such as month-long campaigns, are easier for Flightcast to distribute evenly.
  • Over longer periods, Flightcast can usually keep campaigns very close to their targets.

6. Let Flightcast automatically place ads where they fit best 1:36

  • Flightcast does not use fixed slot types like:
  • Slot 1 in pre-roll
  • Slot 2 in mid-roll
  • Instead, it uses a more flexible system that automatically places ads where they should go.
  • The goal is to keep every campaign on pace without manual slot management.

7. Track Spotify delivery the same way 1:54

  • Flightcast also coordinates with the Spotify side of ad delivery.
  • Ads played on Spotify are tracked and included in pacing calculations.
  • This ensures Spotify delivery stays aligned with the same pacing logic as other ad placements.
