How the "Customize" Button Works in Flightcast
How to Use the Customize Button in Flightcast
1. Understand the default publishing behavior 0:00
- By default, anything you upload in Flightcast is sent everywhere it can go.
- Example mapping:
- Video file → all video platforms
- Audio from the video → all audio platforms
- Thumbnail → wherever video thumbnails are supported
- Cover art → wherever cover art is supported
- To publish normally, just:
- Turn on the platforms in the Publish panel
- Click Publish
2. Use Customize when you want platform-specific fields 0:29
- If you want different content for different platforms, click Customize.
- Common use cases include:
- A different title for audio/RSS platforms
- A different description for audio platforms
- Different chapters for video vs. audio
- This lets you keep one main episode, while tailoring specific fields for specific destinations.
3. Set a separate title or description for audio/RSS 0:39
- Enter your main title or description first.
- Click Customize.
- In the RSS section, add an audio-only or RSS-only version.
- This is especially useful when you want:
- A title optimized for podcast apps
- A description written specifically for audio listeners
- Audio descriptions can include linked words, which is a capability you don’t get on YouTube.
4. Customize chapters and scheduling per platform 1:19
- You can also customize chapters separately for video and audio.
- If needed, you can set different publish times for each platform.
- Example:
- Spotify can go live 2 hours earlier than YouTube
- This is optional—if you don’t need platform-specific timing, keep the main schedule and publish everything together.
5. Replace the media file for a specific platform 1:53
- If you want a different audio version, go to Customize next to Episode Media.
- Turn on RSS and upload a different MP3.
- That file becomes the default audio version for audio platforms.
- You can also upload different versions of the media if you want platform-specific wording or edits.
- Example:
- Say “subscribe” in one version
- Say “follow” in the Spotify version
