How to Add Ad Slots to an Episode in Flightcast
1. Open the episode and confirm media is uploaded 0:00
- Click into the episode you want to edit.
- Make sure the episode already has either:
- a video file uploaded, or
- an audio file uploaded.
- You need the media in place before you can add ad slots.
2. Go to the Add Slots tab 0:10
- At the top of the episode page, open the Add Slots tab.
- You’ll see a timeline where you can place ad slots in different parts of the episode.
3. Choose the slot type and ad source 0:17
- Add a slot in the part of the timeline you want.
- Choose one of these slot types:
- Preroll: plays before the episode
- Midroll: plays during the episode
- Postroll: plays after the episode
- Then choose the ad source for the slot:
- Dynamic: ads you upload into Flightcast, usually sponsor campaigns
- Programmatic: ads served by Flightcast
- Both: allows both types in the slot
4. Set the maximum number of ads for the slot 0:46
- Decide how many ads you want to allow in that slot.
- Example:
- If you want up to 3 ads before the podcast, create a preroll with maximum ads = 3.
- Click Create to add the slot.
5. Confirm the slot appears on the timeline 0:52
- Wait a moment after creating the slot.
- The new ad slot should appear in the timeline.
- Any campaigns targeting that slot type can now target this episode.
6. Set default ad slots for all new episodes in the show 1:00
- If you want ad slots to be added automatically to future episodes, go to podcast.com.
- In the left-side settings, turn on Default Ad Slots.
- Choose which defaults you want:
- Preroll
- Postroll
- Both
- This will automatically place those ad slots whenever you create a new episode.
7. Save your settings 1:26
- Click Save to apply the default ad slot settings.
- This ensures your new episodes are created with the correct ad slot setup.
