How to set up Spotify (video, monetization & distribution)

Flightcast connects your show to Spotify for you, using Spotify's official distribution partnership. Your video episodes, followers, and Spotify Partner Program earnings come with you. Most of the work runs automatically during onboarding. You only need to answer a few questions, claim your show, and redirect your old feed.

Before you start

• Have access to Spotify for Creators. Log in at creators.spotify.com with the account that owns your show.
• Have access to your current host. You'll add a 301 redirect there near the end of setup.
• Audio-only show? If your podcast is set to audio-only, Flightcast skips the Spotify video steps below. Spotify keeps getting your episodes through your RSS feed.

Where this fits in onboarding

After your episodes are imported and your plan is set up, the dashboard walks you through these steps in order:

1. Import Spotify Videos: we find your show on Spotify and copy your existing videos.
2. Spotify monetization: tell us if the show earns money on Spotify.
3. Verify your import: we check that every episode and media file is in place.
4. Claim your show on Spotify: only for shows that aren't hosted on Spotify for Creators.
5. RSS feed redirect: point your old host at Flightcast.
6. Connect to Spotify: Flightcast connects your show and sets up your video episodes.

You can leave and come back at any time. Your progress is saved.

Step 1: Import Spotify Videos

Flightcast searches Spotify for your show.

• If we find it, you'll see your show with a Found badge. Check that it's the right one, then click Import & Continue.
• If we find several possible matches, select yours.
• If the show we found isn't yours, click Not your show? and paste your show's link instead.
• If we can't find your show, paste its Spotify link, for example https://open.spotify.com/show/.... You'll find this link in Spotify for Creators or on your show's Spotify page.

It can take up to a minute to start the import. After that, your videos download in the background while you continue setup.

No Spotify content? Click Skip — I don't have Spotify content.

If you skip this step but your show already exists on Spotify, Flightcast will ask for the show link again in Step 6. That way we connect to your existing show instead of creating a duplicate.

Step 2: Spotify monetization

Is this show currently monetized on Spotify?

• No — not monetized on Spotify: Your payouts don't change. If the show becomes eligible later, we'll let you know.
• Yes — this show earns money on Spotify: Through the Spotify Partner Program or Spotify for Creators. You'll see what happens to your payouts:

  
  

  
  Tick the box to authorize Flightcast to collect your Partner Program earnings for you, then click Confirm & continue.
• • Monetization pauses briefly during the move.
  • Spotify sends your earnings to Flightcast instead of to you or your old host.
  • Flightcast pays 100% of those earnings to you through your payout account. We take no cut.

Step 3: Verify your import

Flightcast checks that everything is ready before you redirect:

• Your RSS episodes are imported.
• Every episode has its audio file.
• Your Spotify videos have finished downloading, if you imported them in Step 1.
• Your historical analytics are imported, if your previous host needs this.

This screen updates on its own. When every check is green, click Continue.

Some hosts remove your access to historical analytics once you redirect. If you're moving from one of these hosts, finish the historical analytics import first. Until then, the redirect step stays locked.

Step 4: Claim your show on Spotify

Skip this step if your show is hosted on Spotify for Creators (anchor.fm). It's already yours, so Flightcast skips the step for you.

Spotify automatically created a page for your podcast from your old feed. If you claim that page in Spotify for Creators before you redirect, your Flightcast feed takes it over. If you don't, the redirect can create a duplicate show on Spotify.

• Already claimed it? Click Yes, it's already claimed.
• Haven't claimed it yet? Click No, I need to claim it, then:
• 1. Go to creators.spotify.com and log in with the account that owns your podcast.
  2. Search for your podcast and choose to claim it.
  3. When Spotify asks for your feed, paste the current RSS feed shown in Flightcast. Use the copy button.
  4. Complete Spotify's verification steps.
  5. Back in Flightcast, click I've claimed it — Continue.

Step 5: Redirect your RSS feed

1. Copy your Flightcast RSS feed URL from this screen.
2. At your old host, go to Settings and find RSS redirect, 301 redirect, or Feed forwarding.
3. Paste your Flightcast URL as the redirect destination and save.
4. Wait. Flightcast checks your old feed automatically. The redirect usually shows up within a few minutes, but it can take up to an hour.

Once we detect the redirect, the Continue button turns on.

Keep your old feed active for at least 30 days after redirecting.

You no longer need to click "Check redirect status" in Spotify for Creators. Flightcast detects the redirect for you.

Step 6: Connect to Spotify

Click Start Spotify Setup. If we don't have your Spotify show link yet, paste it here first. A share link with ?si=… at the end works fine.

Flightcast then runs the setup in the background:

1. Connect your Spotify show
2. Sync your episodes
3. Set up video episodes

You don't need to keep this page open. You can click Explore the platform and keep publishing as normal.

New podcast with no existing Spotify show? You'll see a single step, Connect your show to Spotify. Flightcast creates your show on Spotify for you.

"Spotify is picking up your new feed"

After a redirect, Spotify can take a few hours to notice your new feed. Flightcast checks every 4 hours for up to 24 hours. Setup finishes on the first check that finds your new feed. You don't need to do anything, and we'll email you once your show is connected.
