How to Publish an Episode in Flightcast


1. Start a new blank episode 0:00

  • In Flightcast, click Create a New Episode in the top-left corner.
  • Select Blank Episode to begin from scratch.
  • This opens the episode editor where you’ll add all content and publishing details.


2. Understand the editor layout 0:08

  • The middle of the screen is where you upload and edit episode content.
  • Add your:
  • Video or audio file
  • Thumbnail
  • Cover art
  • Title
  • Description
  • Chapters
  • Other episode metadata
  • The right side is the publishing panel, where you choose where the episode will go live.
  • If the publishing panel is hidden, use the drawer icon in the top-right to show or hide it.


3. Upload your media and artwork 0:29

  • Upload your episode file first.
  • Add a 16:9 thumbnail if you’re publishing video.
  • This will be used for platforms like YouTube and Spotify video.
  • Add cover art for audio platforms.
  • This is used across audio destinations such as RSS-based podcast apps.
  • You only need to upload once unless you want different files for different platforms.


4. Set the episode details 0:44

  • Choose when the episode should go live:
  • Click Schedule to publish immediately.
  • Or set a future publish time.
  • Fill in the main episode fields:
  • Title
  • Description
  • Chapters
  • Optional metadata like author name or season number can be added at the bottom, but they are not required.


5. Let the file process, but don’t wait to publish 1:15

  • After uploading, the video will begin processing in the top-right.
  • You do not need to wait for processing to finish before publishing.
  • Some platforms, especially Apple Video, may require the video to finish processing first.
  • If so, those platforms may go live a little later than others.


6. Customize content per platform if needed 1:31

  • Use the Customize section if you want different settings for different platforms.
  • Examples:
  • Publish to YouTube at 5 PM and everywhere else at 7 PM.
  • Upload a different audio file for the RSS feed.
  • Use a different video file for Spotify or YouTube.
  • If you don’t need platform-specific versions, just upload once and let Flightcast distribute it everywhere.


7. Use AI to generate titles, descriptions, and chapters 2:32

  • Once processing is complete, Flightcast can generate content with AI.
  • AI suggestions are based on:
  • The episode transcript
  • Your previous titles and style
  • You can generate:
  • Titles
  • Descriptions
  • Chapters
  • For titles, you’ll get multiple options (for example, 10 choices) and can scroll through them before applying the one you want.


8. Choose where the episode will publish 3:11

  • In the publishing panel on the right, turn on the destinations you want.
  • Common options include:
  • RSS
  • YouTube
  • Spotify
  • You can also customize platform-specific settings, such as:
  • Adding the episode to a YouTube playlist
  • Publishing audio only to Spotify
  • Using separate titles for audio vs. video versions
