What does "Video Processing" Mean?
Understanding FlightCast Video Processing
1. What happens after you upload a video 0:00
- After a video finishes uploading to FlightCast, the status changes to Video Processing and Audio Processing.
- This means FlightCast is starting the post-upload preparation work for your episode.
2. Audio processing: create the RSS audio version 0:14
- FlightCast first creates a separate audio-only version of the episode.
- This audio file is what gets distributed through the RSS feed.
- It supports listeners on platforms that only play audio, such as:
- Apple Podcasts audio listeners
- Apps that do not support video
3. Audio transcription: generate the transcript for AI 0:23
- FlightCast also transcribes the episode.
- The transcript is used to power the platform’s AI features.
- Audio processing and transcription usually finish quickly.
- Once they complete, the AI buttons become enabled.
4. Video processing: prepare the episode for video platforms 0:46
- Video processing is separate from audio processing.
- It prepares the episode for Apple Podcasts Video and Spotify Video.
- FlightCast also cleans the video file to reduce the chance of playback issues, especially on Spotify.
- This helps ensure the episode can be delivered reliably.
5. Apple Video requires multiple quality versions 0:55
- Apple Video uses a different system than other platforms.
- FlightCast must generate multiple video quality versions, including:
- 4K
- 1080p
- 720p
- 480p
- 360p
- Creating these versions takes additional time.
6. Expect processing time based on file size 1:22
- Video processing typically takes about 1–2 minutes per gigabyte.
- If processing is unusually slow, check your:
- Editing workflow
- Export settings
- Export software
- Large or inefficient exports can increase processing time.
7. How FlightCast delivers video to each platform 1:36
- FlightCast does not compress video the same way for every platform.
- It sends the raw video to Spotify and YouTube.
- For Apple, it only creates the specific compressed versions Apple requires.
- This is intentional so each platform gets the format it needs.
8. When the episode goes live 1:49
- Once processing is complete, the episode goes live as soon as each platform is ready.
- Platforms may publish at different times:
- YouTube first
- Spotify next
- Apple later, since Apple takes longer
9. Best practice: schedule ahead when possible 2:11
- FlightCast recommends scheduling episodes instead of publishing immediately.
- Scheduling 1–2 hours ahead helps ensure all platforms go live around the same time.
- This is the best option if you want a coordinated release.
10. If you need to publish immediately 2:25
- You can still click Publish when ready right away.
- You do not need to wait for processing to finish before publishing.
- The episode will appear on each platform as soon as that platform finishes processing it.
